Planning the photo's

As previously blogged, I decided that I wanted a painted background of different shapes for when I was going to take the photo's of my actor/model. In preparation for this I spent a lot of time drawing and then painting the background..

Songs

The average number of songs an album has is 12 therefore I have decided to feature 12 songs on my artists album, which are as follows...

1. I Can Honestly Say
2. You And I
3.Breathe Out
4. Careless Love
5. Clouds
6. Giving You Up
7. Kaleidoscope
8. Our Lives Are Our Greatest Art
9. The Battlefield
10. Just Around The Corner
11. I'm Built Like That
12. I Guess We're Alright

Although they are all fictional song titles, they are all still involved with Miley Cyrus. What I did was listen to some songs from her several albums, and just changed the name to other lyrics in the song. For example I changed Miley Cyrus' song 'Someday' to 'Just Around The Corner', as the song reads those lyrics.

Miley Cyrus photo's

As I am still referring to my artist as Miley Cyrus, and this will be the name featured on the cover of the album I have chosen several photo's of her, and her album covers to use as examples of what I would like my photo's to turn out like of my actor.

Album Planning

After looking at several different examples of albums I noticed that many include a thank you letter, especially included within a digipack.

Special Thanks
I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone that has made any sort of contribution to the making of this album, I wouldn't be here without the help from you all and I appreciate it more than anything. To my family, thank you all for always supporting me in all of this, knowing I have the most important people in my life always stood by my side inspires me to do all that I can with my music and I love you all more than anything! And last but not least, to my fans I feel unbelievably privileged to know how much you all like my music and it's letting me live out my dream, I really would never have gotten this far without you. I hope you enjoy the record!

Album cover idea's

Due to looking at several examples of other abstract album covers and different album covers of Miley Cyrus I have come up with a few initial idea's for my own album cover, but not yet a final idea, are a few things which I would consider doing...

On a recent trip to New York, I took several photo's of the sky whilst on the plane, as I wanted to make the cover abstract, I was thinking of incorporating one/some of these photo's into the background. I would  probably use Photoshop to edit out the plane wings as they aren't really relevant though.

Although I am yet to decide what type of photo I want of my artist I have considered using the effect of adding noise to the photo to go on the front cover as it stands out and fits in with it being abstract.

Using inspiration from the video 'Somebody That I Used To Know' by Gotye, I came up with the idea of having taking a photo of my artist topless against a plain white background, with her back facing the camera and her head facing to the side then different shades of blue paint on her back, similar to the sky photo's I took, which I would then add to be the background using Photoshop. Many of the shots in my music video are outside, especially the ending and there are a lot of sky shots, so I think the colour blue and the sky background would be good at representing the video.

Still using inspiration from this music video, I came up with an idea more similar to this one, but having a painted background and then the artist painted with the same pattern as the background so she fitted in with it.

Examples of abstract album covers

My first idea's for the album cover were to make it abstract so I began to look at examples of other previous abstract covers.

This particular album cover stood out to me due to the amount of things going on and the amount that it represents. The smaller things coming out of the persons head could represent things he enjoys or maybe things which have inspired him or the songs on this album. The way the persons face is abstract too with different colours looks very effective and matches some of the colours in the smaller photo's.

I really like this abstract cover and it stood out a lot to me due to the fact that it is a normal photo of someone  just with something abstract added to it and the actual photo hasn't been changed. I also like the way it doesn't look too organised, and the colour that's been put across the face isn't a block of colour and includes different shades and tones. I definitely would consider doing something like this for my album cover.

The colours really stand out in the abstract cover and the reflection of it makes it look more unusual, in a good way. The centre also stands out a lot and looks like light. If I came up with a good enough idea I would consider doing something like this for my album cover too. However, I would prefer using my album artist on the cover and not just something totally abstract as it reflects the artist more and audiences will know what album it is if the artist is on the cover.

Out of all four of these examples, this one is the one I prefer the most and would definitely consider doing something similar for my own album cover. I like how the photo hasn't been edited too much but yet has still been made into something abstract, especially the dripping of the fingers as if it is paint. If I were to do something similar I would probably make the photo of the artist more real, broad and bigger on the cover and I would use colours that reflect the artist, and colours that are ones that shown in my music video.
