Analysis of digipack: Miley Cyrus

.
L- The photo of Miley Cyrus on the cover of the EP is a mid-shot, showing Miley holding a guitar. Miley is placed in the centre of the photo, sat on what looks like a large sound speaker. The actual background of the cover is lilac with the words 'time of our lives' in a small script sort of font, diagonally written across the page. The name of the artist and name of the EP have been placed at the bottom of the cover, just below Miley's chest in the colour white so it stands out and looks different to everything else. The word 'Miley' is in the biggest size font and is her signature, the same as the cover of Kelly Rowland's album. Then the word 'Cyrus' has been placed below this in capital letters and what looks like the font Arial. In the same type of script font the name of the EP 'The Time Of Our Lives', which is also in white has then been placed below, at the bottom of the cover. The three of these fonts fit together well and the layout looks very different and individual compared to the other album covers I have analysed.

I- The Time Of Our Lives was released in 2009 by the label Hollywood, initially as a United States Wall-Mart exclusive. It was Miley's first EP, featuring only 7 songs and is considered to be the first step of change she showed before she released her third album.

I- In the photo of Miley she is leaning to the side with her eyes closed and her left arm is placed on the side of her head. This gives the connotation that she is thinking about something. Also, because the cover of the album/EP is generally an overview of the songs which are featured, the photo could also connotate this as well as the theme of the songs are generally about love and relationships.

A- The audience of the EP would generally be fans of Miley Cyrus as well as Hannah Montana. I think the majority of the fans would also be female rather than male too, as at this stage Miley was still considered to be just Hannah Montana still, and the show was aimed more towards young girls.

R- I think the cover of the EP The Time Of Our Lives represents a very positive view of Miley Cyrus. It is a very innocent photo of her, and the guitar being placed in the photo also adds a personal element to the cover, her signature being placed on the cover is also personal too. For the specific genre of the album i would say that the cover is stereotypical of this, but in a good way. It stands out, mainly because of the lilac background, but due to being only an EP and not an album, it doesn’t necessarily need anything eye catching, due to the fact her next album was released shortly after, and it would obviously have to stand out more compared to the EP.
